The most recent issue of the Library of Congress Magazine features our nation’s book arts collections. Articles cover the breadth of the collections, from medieval pieces to conservation models, designer bookbinding and French livres d’artistes to contemporary artists’ books. I was kindly asked to write the “Last Word” column for the issue. Take a look.

The talk is free and open to the public, but you need to register to attend.
On November 9 I will be delivering the Saturday keynote, Smashing the Crystal Goblet: A Reappraisal of Legibility for Contemporary Private Press Books, at the Hamilton Woodtype & Printing Museum Wayzgose in beautiful Two Rivers, Wisconsin. The weekend includes talks and demonstrations by type designers, letterpress printers, woodtype manufacturers, and scholars from far and wide. Register today.
I’ll be speaking about Peter Koch’s work at the Grolier Club on October 2, beginning at 6pm, with a reception to follow. The talk coincides with Peter’s 45 year retrospective and is free and open to the public. 47 East 60th Street, between Park and Madison, New York City.
